Prior to your surgery, you may be asked to:
- Get lab testing or a medical evaluation
- Take certain medications or adjust your current medications
- Stop smoking well in advance of surgery
- Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding
- Avoid consuming food or beverages at least 12 hours before surgery
For recovery from your surgery, you will be given instructions that may include:
- How to care for the surgical site
- Medications to take or apply to aid healing and reduce potential for infection
- Specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in your general health
- When to follow up with your surgeon
