Dr. Randi Galli is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. A member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society that comprises the top ten percent of medical students, Dr. Galli received his Medical Degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in General Surgery at University of California, Los Angeles and University of California, San Diego, as well as a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Tulane Medical Center. He later completed a fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Dr. Galli is certified for the Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand by the American Board of Surgery. While Dr. Galli’s medical school honors and board certifications attest to his knowledge, his meticulous surgical skill is the basis of his greatest recognition. Dr. Galli has an excellent reputation of achieving remarkable outcomes in patients with very complex injuries. He is known for taking the time with his patients to arrive at a proper diagnosis, a necessity before performing complex surgical procedures. Dr. Galli is the senior member of an excellent team of physicians. His 15 years of clinical experience gives this highly skilled team great depth in caring for patients with all types of complex upper extremity problems. Dr. Galli enjoys tennis, computer technology and the performing arts. He travels regularly with his wife and five children.
Dr. Anisa Yalom is the newest surgeon to join the Regional Hand Surgery Associates. She recently completed the prestigious Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Yalom grew up in San Diego and attended medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles. She then completed a General Surgery residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Yalom has been recognized for her excellent technical and teaching skills. She received the Excellence in Teaching with Humanism Award from UCLA. Of note, Dr. Yalom was part of the historic team that performed the first pediatric bilateral hand transplant which took place in July of 2015 at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Yalom is also an accomplished sculptor and ceramic artist, having studied at California College of the Arts prior to her medical education. Dr. Yalom is fluent in Spanish and French and conversational in German. She enjoys surfing, open ocean swimming, international travel and spending time outdoors with her husband and son.
Dr. Ricardo Avena is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Born and raised in Mexico City, Dr. Avena attended medical school at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Upon graduation, Dr. Avena received his certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Connecticut in Hartford, Connecticut. In addition to his training in general surgery, Dr. Avena also completed a three year Post-Doctoral Surgery Research Fellowship at the VA Medical Center / George Washington University, Washington, D.C., where he published several research papers and was awarded multiple regional and national awards. Dr. Avena then completed a fellowship in critical care before at the University of Connecticut. He then went on to complete an additional fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at The Kleinert Institute / University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Avena is certified for the Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand by the American Board of Surgery. This specialty training along with many years of clinical practice makes him an expert in complex hand and wrist injuries. He particularly caring for acute complex fractures of the wrist. In addition to his private Hand Surgery Practice, Dr. Avena is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at USCF-Fresno Campus. He is married and has two children, and he enjoys outdoor activities with his family. Dr. Avena also enjoys a variety of sports including horseback riding, sailing, swimming, and skiing.
