Dr. Anisa Yalom joined the team at Regional Hand Center of Central California in 2015 after she completed the prestigious Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Yalom grew up in San Diego and attended medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles. She then completed a General Surgery residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Yalom has been recognized for her excellent technical and teaching skills. She received the Excellence in Teaching with Humanism Award from UCLA. Of note, Dr. Yalom was part of the historic team that performed the first pediatric bilateral hand transplant which took place in July of 2015 at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Yalom is also an accomplished sculptor and ceramic artist, having studied at California College of the Arts prior to her medical education. Dr. Yalom is fluent in Spanish and French and conversational in German. She enjoys surfing, open ocean swimming, international travel and spending time outdoors with her husband and son.
